Earth transport ... what you should know
- What does the transport of excavated earth cost?
The cost of transporting soil depends largely on the vehicle used. The more payload the vehicle has, the lower the costs per kilometre driven per tonne.
For long distances, earth transport in articulated lorries is normally the most economical.
Over short distances, however, the use of more manoeuvrable vehicles can make sense.
- Which vehicles are suitable for earth transport?
Only vehicles with a tiltable loading surface are suitable for transporting soil. Vehicles with so-called troughs, which prevent the soil from sticking to the loading area, are particularly suitable. In general, however, all vehicles that are suitable for transporting bulk goods can be used.
- What licences are required for the transport of excavated earth?
In most cases, a transport permit is required for the transport of soil. If the excavated soil is to be disposed of, the carrier requires a permit for the transport of soil in accordance with §53 KrWG for the transport of waste.
